Planning the ultimate Sydney road trip? Amazing idea! NSW is well known for its beautiful sceneries. You can explore the white, sandy beaches, luscious mountains or native bushlands. Or you can get immersed in the culture and visit a great selection of restaurants, shops and attractions. Not sure where to go? Whether you’re spoiled for choice or you’re not a NSW local, take a look at our guide to help you decide on your Sydney road trip.

Grand Pacific Drive

The Grand Pacific Drive is easily one of Sydney’s, and Australia’s, most spectacular driving routes. Begin at the Royal National Park, where you can take the opportunity to gaze at the wildlife that inhabits there. Then hop in your car and head down south towards Wollongong. There are many things to see and do on the way. Stop off at Bald Hill Look out to take a picture of the fantastic ocean views. Drive along the magnificent 456m Sea Cliff Bridge, which extends from Coalcliff to Clifton. Visit the Nan Tien Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere outside Wollongong. Plus, don’t forget to stop off at the many beaches on offer with a pack of fish and chips.

The Rainforest Way

Up in the northern parts of NSW, take a wonder among the World Heritage listed rainforests of The Rainforest Way. No matter where you begin, you can view so much on this breathtaking journey. Explore the Gondwana Rainforests; the most extensive area of subtropical rainforest in the world. If you’ve always wanted to learn more about rainforests, pop into the Murwillumbah World Heritage Rainforest Centre. You can even visit Mt Warning, an ancient plug of solidified lava on top of Tweed River.

The Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains are one of Sydney’s most popular tourist attractions. Head out west on the M4 Motorway to see everything the Blue Mountains has to offer. Drive through Faulconbridge and Hazelbrook to get to the outstanding Wentworth Falls, where you can enjoy a scenic walk through the bush, cliffs and grand waterfalls. Visit towns like Leura and Katoomba to look at all the charming galleries, craft stores and yummy restaurants. Once you head back, make sure you stop off at Mt Tomah to visit the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens; the only botanic gardens in a World Heritage Area.
